Design of complex digital circuits

OBJECTIVE :

This course explores the design methodology of hybrid hardware-software circuits.

It covers all stages of the design process through practical work sessions, from partitioning and coding to installation onto the board.

COURSE DURATION AND TIMETABLE :

The course lasts 5 days (30 hours) and includes:

  • Lessons
  • with the application of the concepts introduced.

GENERAL APPROACH :

In recent years, there has been a sharp increase in the complexity of digital systems. This has resulted in an evolution in the design techniques for installing hardware logic functions and programming software logic functions on the same chip.

Moreover, the design methodology used, known as "codesign", is characterized by:

  • A high level of abstraction
  • A description at the system level
  • The possibility of reusing previously validated units
  • The use of hardware-software partitioning methods
  • The synthesis of hardware and software functions
  • Hardware and software co-simulation.

This course focuses on tools used for the design of Xilinx FPGA circuits.

PREREQUISITE :

Course level: Basic

This course is for engineers and technicians with knowledge of digital electronics circuit design, basic knowledge of VHDL and knowledge of a programming language.
