Architecture and System-Of-Systems-Engineering (SOSE)
This course teaches concepts, methods and tools necessary for managing the architecture and engineering of systems-of-systems.
- This course adopts a multidisciplinary approach and integrates issues in social and law sciences, in order to offer a coherent and systemic approach.
The course lasts 4 days (24 hours).
The goal is to complete the various courses dedicated to systems engineering within the EUROSAE course list by focusing specifically on systems-of-systems.
Indeed, the bank industry as well as health, transportation, defence, space, aeronautical systems have seen the development of more and more complex systems these last decades. The increasing maturity of information and communication technologies allows the networking of systems and the emergence of new services through the coupling of the systems’ functionalities. It is necessary to manage the increasing resulting complexity in order to take advantage of these integration modes. This course is a multidisciplinary consideration of that notion that is at the core of many domains today. After giving the main definitions and discussing illustrations in several application domains, it yields the keys in order to understand when one faces a system-of-systems and how one can manage its complexity.
This course aims at giving the basics for architecting and engineering a system-of-systems (SoS). It concentrates on the key issues and illustrates them on a case study dedicated to emergency situation management.
The attendees know the basics of systems engineering and have some practical knowledge. The key notions of systems engineering are assumed known and mastered.
