Optimizing decision-making

OBJECTIVE :

Available in French or English, this course is designed to help you understand the moral responsibility of decision-making.

It enables decision-makers to optimize their decision-making by integrating the moral dimension into the process.

This course is for those wishing to:

  • Become familiar with the concept of morality.
  • Acquire knowledge about the concept of responsibility.
  • Learn about the different types of decision-making responsibilities.
  • Identify issues related to the responsibility of decision-makers.
  • Put the knowledge acquired into practice in a specific environment.

COURSE DURATION AND TIMETABLE :

The training takes place over 2 days (12 hours).

It is one third lectures, one third practical application in the form of discussions and one third tutorials and/or practical work

GENERAL APPROACH :

This course is an introduction to the notion of moral responsibility in the decision-making process. It aims to help the decision-maker to make informed choices based on values and to optimize them in terms of the objectives to be achieved. It draws on theoretical knowledge and practical experiences, enriched by open debates.

PREREQUISITE :

Course level : Basic and/or Advanced

Suitable for anyone and no prerequisites. The experience of each person serves as a basis of knowledge to develop the concepts related to the subject.

Completion of course MPC-051 Liability of Public Decision-Makers or experience in a decision-making role would be beneficial.

     * The importance of morality in an interconnected world

Reflection and discussions on the importance of the notion of morality in the media and on social networks. Case studies

     * Corporate social responsibility

The moral dimension of CSR Is it important? Why?

     * Morals and interpersonal relationships

What is a 'moral' leader or decision-maker? How can we behave morally towards our employees? What is the weight of cultural differences in a moral decision? Case studies

Reflection and discussions on the use of the moral argument for communicative purposes. Benefits, challenges and risks. Case studies

     * Morality to fill legal loopholes

How and why is morality used to overcome legal loopholes? Reflection and discussions on the difference between law and morality.
