Solid propellant propulsion systems

OBJECTIVE :

This training will enable learners to acquire a basic theoretical and practical education, useful for engineers who are required to design, utilize, or operate propeller tests using solid propellants for tactical, strategic or spatial applications.

COURSE DURATION AND TIMETABLE :

The course lasts 5 days (35 hours) and includes:

  • lectures
  • an engineering office
  • a day visit to the Centre de Recherche du Bouchet (Bouchet Center for Research) at the Herakles Group.

The engineering office focuses on the design of a propeller in the preliminary stages of a project.

Learners are required to bring a pocket scientific calculator.

GENERAL APPROACH :

The course aims to provide the latest knowledge of solid propellant systems. It will look closely at each of the sub-assemblies and how they interact.

It will enable learners to identify what the main performance parameters are and how they are verified.

It will conclude with the complete pre-dimensioning of a propeller.

PREREQUISITE :

Course level: Basic/Advanced

The scientific knowledge required of candidates is at the engineer or senior technician level.
