''Safety'' assessments on transport aircraft

General aspects for Systems and ''Software''

OBJECTIVE :

This training is dedicated to any people working in the aviation industry (manufacturer, supplier, operator, aviation authorities) dealing with design, maintenance, reliability or safety.

"System Safety Assessment analysis" are documents of major importance in the frame of the certification of an aircraft. The objective of the course is to give the trainee the methodology to build up such a document, moreover the keys to use, discuss or criticize its contents.

COURSE DURATION AND TIMETABLE :

The course lasts 3 days course (18 hours):

Importance is given to real case applications, emphasis is placed on contribution of design and maintenance to safety, with time allowed for discussion and a full day dedicated to one study case.

GENERAL APPROACH :

On the completion of the course the trainee will be able to:

  • Discuss some well-known accidents which have led to new regulations and improved systems architecture
  • Understand and criticize the regulatory background regarding the System Safety Assessments of an aircraft
  • Apply the most common safety analysis techniques and avoid main traps behind safety assessments
  • Have a view on the design and maintenance contributions to the safety objectives
  • Analyse one real study case(Landing Gear System - A320)

PREREQUISITE :

Level: Basic

Prerequisite: none on the topic.

(*) On request, the Study case may be changed for another a/c System (other study case is presently available on “ECS - Bleed Air System A320”)
