FMECA methodology

For the design of mechanical products


This course will enable learners to acquire knowledge and practice of the FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis) methodology, the basic tool for ensuring the inclusion of a quality process in the design of products and optimizing their operational safety.


The course lasts 3 days (18 hours) and includes:

  • 5 hours of lectures
  • 13 hours of group exercises
  • 5 hours of panel discussion


The purpose of this course is to present the FMECA methodology and its practical application methods within companies, both from the point of view of in-house production and the validation of FMECA carried out by suppliers.

In terms of the product design and manufacture, it supplements course SYI 012 internship "Value analysis and design for an objective cost".


Course level: Basic

The course is for engineers, engineering design managers/supervisors and technicians working in methods, manufacturing, quality and purchasing, and with experience of industrial life.

    • Example in the automotive field
