Certification processes (Part-21) and introduction to CS-25 Certification Specifications

OBJECTIVE :

Aircraft Airworthiness shall be established and maintained with in a regulatory framework.

This course aims to present and understand EASA Part-21 requirements related to the certification processes as well as design and production organisations.

Certification specifications (‘large aeroplanes’) are also presented in their entirety.

COURSE DURATION AND TIMETABLE :

Course duration is 2 days (12 hours).

GENERAL APPROACH :

Presentation of the scope and contents (regulatory articles) of the different chapters (‘subparts’) of Part-21, the key requirements are then deeply reviewed and analyzed while underlining their interpretation and applicable compliance demonstrations (Acceptable Means of Compliance, Guidance Material).

An overall review of the content of the CS-25 "Wide Airplanes" certification specifications, along with the identification of key requirements, is also presented.

    • Application in European frame (EASA, Member States)
  • Certification procedures (EASA Part-21)
    • Contents and general provisions
    • Type certification (TC, STC)
    • Changes to TC (classification, approval)
    • Repairs (classification, approval)
    • Individual aircraft certification (Certificate of Airworthiness, Noise Certificate, Permit to Fly)
    • Continued airworthiness
    • Parts and appliances (ETSO qualification, identification)
  • Organization approval procedures (EASA Part-21)
    • Design organization
    • Production organization
    • ETSO authorization
    • For each item : eligibility, compliance demonstration and justifications, privileges, continued validity. Design
  • CS-25 certification specifications
    • Contents and general provisions
    • Review of key requirements in the various technical areas (flight, structure, powerplant, systems, cabin and cargo…) through the presentation of the CS-25 chapters ("subparts")
