Introduction to thermal transfers


The introductory course helps learners:

  • discover the different modes of heat transfer and their couplings
  • understand the basics of heat science
  • understand the principle of energy assessment/usage

by illustrating the theory with practical applications and examples.


The course lasts 4.5 days (27 hours) and includes:

  • 9 lectures
  • 8 sessions with practical exercises
  • panel discussion


The course consists of basic classes based on mathematical reminders and practical applications (exercises) in order to master the three forms of heat transfer (conduction, convection and radiation) and their coupling in simple situations, before moving onto the use of these principles in writing an energy usage assessment.


Course level: Basic

Introductory course for people with Bac+2 and above who have no practical knowledge of heat science.
